Student Activity Locator

Victorian government schools must record details of all excursions in the Student Activity Locator (SAL) (staff login required)External Link . The department needs to know the location of students in case there is an emergency. Schools must do this at least 5 business days before the activity.

Under the Excursions policy, the teacher-in-charge is responsible for ensuring excursion information is in SAL. Other staff in schools can access SAL and undertake this task as delegated by the teacher-in-charge. New users must first create an account by clicking on the 'create an account' button at the bottom of the SAL login pageExternal Link .

If a staff member moves to a new school, they must register again. If a staff member works at more than one school, they need to register for each school.

For joint school activities, each school must register the location of their own students in SAL.

For help accessing SAL, refer to: How to access the Student Activity Locator (PDF)External Link . For help creating an account, raise a ticket on the Services PortalExternal Link .

Non-government schools can also use the SAL to register camps and excursions.

For help completing details in the Student Activity Locator, refer to: Student Activity Locator User Guide (PDF)External Link .
