Student Resource Package – School Infrastructure

Wage Supplement (Reference 159)

Funding for industrial improvements for government regional schools to cover the 5% above award rate increase for all government school cleaners was introduced in 2025.

Eligibility

All regional schools will receive school cleaning additional funding to cover the 5% above award rate for all government school cleaners.

Metropolitan schools do not receive school cleaning additional funding as cleaning contracts are managed centrally and the department pays service providers directly.

Exclusions: Schools/campuses with no history of previous SRP Cleaning payments are ineligible for this additional funding.

Funding

The payments are calculated using each school’s cleanable area. A minimum of $585 annually will apply to each campus as a baseline to ensure schools with small cleanable areas receive a practical allocation. The minimum allocation of $585 for each school is applied and the remaining amount is distributed proportionally to the school's total cleanable area.

Use of funding

For regional schools to cover the cost of the 5% above award rate increase for government school cleaners.

Accountability

Regional schools are required to have a valid school cleaning service agreement in place, that includes an updated clause stipulating that all government school cleaners receive a 5% above award wage increase effective 1 January 2025.

Regional schools receive funding to pass on to their service provider to pay the 5% above award increase to their cleaners. The service provider is contractually obligated to pay cleaning staff an additional allowance of 5% above award rate.
