Quality Improvement (Reference 160)

As part of the Victorian government’s cleaning reform, funding for quality improvements for government metropolitan and regional schools was introduced in 2025, specifically, to purchase additional cleaning services for one-off events.

Eligibility

All metropolitan and regional schools will receive school cleaning additional funding each year.

Exclusions: Schools/campuses with no history of previous SRP Cleaning payments are ineligible for this additional funding.

Funding

The payments are based on an hourly rate for a 4-hour shift × 11, allowing for 44 additional hours of cleaning, or an extra event per month during the school year.

Use of funding

For metropolitan and regional schools to purchase additional flexible funding for cleaning services for one off events such as school fetes or sporting events. Funding cannot be used for school maintenance activities such as gutter cleaning or swimming pool cleaning.

Accountability

When purchasing additional cleaning services, metropolitan schools must use their nominated service provider and utilise the additional cleaning provision under the school cleaning agreement. Under the new model, each service provider is required to provide schools with a quotation on additional services at the school’s request and have agreed pricing for the life of the contract.

Regional schools should use their current service provider, if possible, for additional cleaning.
