Flexible Work for Classroom Teachers funding
2025 program
The Flexible Work for Classroom Teachers initiative was launched in the 2025 school year as a pilot program to support schools to facilitate flexible work arrangements for classroom teachers. This initiative was designed to support teachers in a job-share or part-time arrangement. The funding allowed eligible teachers to have a cross-over day with their job-share partner or supported a new or increased part-time arrangement. The initiative focused on helping schools implement flexible work arrangements to support wellbeing and promote work-life balance.
Under this initiative, the Department of Education (the department) provided a grant of $20,000 to support a classroom teacher in an eligible flexible work arrangement for up to 12 months.
All available grants under this initiative have now been allocated. Funding has been provided to support participating schools over the course of the initiative.
Application process
All available grants for the 2025 school year have now been allocated, with funding for this initiative concluding on 30 June 2026. Current participants will continue to be supported for the duration of their approved funding period.
While funding under this initiative is fully allocated, teachers are still able to access flexible work arrangements outside of the initiative, by submitting a flexible work application made under the Flexible policy. Teachers are encouraged to speak with their principal to discuss available flexible work options within their school.
The Flexible Work Initiatives team is currently collecting expressions of interest for future iterations of the program. Principals and Business Managers may register their interest by emailing schools.initiatives@education.vic.gov.au.
