Overview

The Education and Training Reform Act 2006 requires that all teachers in Victoria obtain registration or permission to teach (PTT) from the Victorian Institute of Teaching (the Institute) before they can be employed in any Victorian school, including Victorian Government schools or an early childhood education setting.

When offering employment principals must ensure that all prospective teaching employees provide evidence of the relevant required registration with the Institute. Comprehensive information on the registration requirements and process for obtaining registration is available from the Victorian Institute of TeachingExternal Link .
