Signage requirements
Schools must:
- display ‘No Smoking’ signs at each pedestrian access point to the school premises – ‘No Smoking or Vaping’ signs also meets this legislative requirement
- display the signs in such a prominent position at each entrance to make it clear that the area at or within 4 metres of that entrance is a smoke and vape-free area.
Government schools may:
- download free ‘No Smoking or Vaping’ signs through the Department of Health – signs must be printed in colour at A4 or larger size
- if outdoor metal signage is desired, schools may provide the suggested specifications to a professional printer – A4/A3 or larger size, printed in a 4-colour process using UV inks, Skybond 3 mm stock, shape cut with rounded corners, finishing with drill holes
