Teacher work grievances

Every effort must be made to resolve teacher work grievances through conciliation at the school level. The key principle is local resolution and minimization of grievances.

A teacher who considers his or her work to be excessive or unreasonable within the terms of the Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2022 may, if the matter is not resolved at the school, either:

  • refer the matter to the union who may refer the matter for resolution in accordance with the Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2022, to examine the factors affecting the work of the teacher to determine whether the work is excessive or unreasonable, or
  • refer the matter to the Merit Protection Boards for determination
