Overview
Part 2 of the Public Administration Act 2004 establishes the public sector values and employment principles that apply in all Victorian public sector bodies, including schools.
The principles underpin employment processes which apply to the Victorian public sector, which includes employees in the Victorian Public Service and the Teaching Service. The Department, as a public sector employer, must have employment processes that are consistent with the public sector employment principles and any mandatory standards issued by the Victorian Public Sector Commission (VPSC). The standards guide the development of employment processes.
The standards and principles help shape the type of working environment the Department provides to employees. They help set the right conditions for productive and harmonious working relationships by ensuring that employees are treated well, have career opportunities and can safely raise their concerns.
