PLC school self-reflection tool

The PLC school self-reflection tool (DOCX) can be used by school leadership or individual PLC teams to reflect on areas of strength and inform next steps for improvement.

Exemplar term planner

The PLC term planner (DOCX) can be used by schools as an example of possible scheduling and key actions their PLC meetings.

Other relevant resources

PLC teams must evaluate and refine their existing teaching and learning sequences against the VTLM 2.0 and use this to inform the development of new sequences, strategies and practices.

Victorian Lesson Plans can be used by PLCs to form the basis for teaching and learning programs in their respective areas or could be adapted to meet the needs of their learners.

The Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 and VCE Curriculum provide the basis of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. PLCs measure the spread of student learning against the relevant curriculum and identify the specific learning outcome as the focus for their inquiry.

The Diverse Learners Hub can be used by PLCs to incorporate evidence-based practices into their teaching and learning sequences, to support a range of learners.

The Positive Classroom Management Strategies can be used by PLC teams who have a focus on improving wellbeing and student engagement as part of their inquiry cycle.

Professional learning

Professional learning webinars are available to support schools with their PLC implementation and practices. Session details and registrations are via Arc – Professional Learning Communities.

Victorian Professional Learning Communities initiative evaluation

In 2024, the department commissioned the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) to conduct the final evaluation of the Victorian Learning Communities initiative. Drawing on data collected between August 2022 and November 2023, the evaluation examined implementation, impact, sustainability and value for investment. The findings highlight positive outcomes, with the Victorian Professional Learning Communities initiative: Final evaluation – full report (PDF) available for download.
