Substance type — novel psychoactive substances

Novel psychoactive substances (NPS) including synthetic cannabis are a diverse group of psychoactive compounds that are designed to mimic the effects of commonly used illicit drugs of dependence. These drugs are often more potent than traditional recreational drugs and can cause more severe physical and psychological adverse effects.
