Overview

Overview

The Medical Advisory Service, operated by Max Health (previously InjuryNet), is a specialised support service for principals and managers to help them fulfill their responsibilities in relation to employee health. Information and advice is provided by a team of occupational health practitioners including nurses, injury management advisors, doctors and allied health professionals all of whom have extensive experience in early intervention, physical and psychological injury management and return to work strategies.

Policy and Guidelines

The Medical Advisory Service is familiar with the department's human resource management policies, employee health obligations and the operational requirements of schools and will assist principals and managers:

  • With the management of employees experiencing (psychological and physical) health related difficulties that impact on their ability to perform the duties associated with their employment.
  • To implement absence management strategies
  • Interpret medical terminology and reports, and communicate with an employee's treating doctor
  • Access independent medical opinions where there is conflicting medical advice on treatment or return to work capacity
  • Arrange independent medical examinations by appropriate medical practitioners on behalf of the department.

The Medical Advisory Service is available Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (excluding public holidays).
